New Sunday Group
A new Bible Study class starts October 8. Led by Tim Lakes, the new group meets at 9:00 a.m. each Sunday morning at the church. This will be a great time of learning and fellowship. Childcare for preschoolers is provided during this time. Kidventure for grades 1-5 and Youth Bible 1.0 for grades 6-12 also meet at 9:00, so there’s something for everybody. All adults are invited and encouraged to come to the new Sunday class. Contact Tim Lakes at
TLAKES@scana.comfor more information.

Church-Wide Food Gathering – This Wednesday

We have several expectant mothers who are on bed rest. We invite you to help in providing meals for these moms and their families. Prepare a meal that can be put in the freezer for future use. Include instructions on how to cook or otherwise prepare the casserole or dish. Bring your dish to church this Wednesday, October 11, between 6:30 and 7:00 p.m. The dishes will be divided and delivered to the Carters, Eiferts, and Crains that evening. You’re also encouraged to write notes, make calls and visits to encourage these women. Contact Davii Parris, 732-2094 or dmparris@sc.rr.comfor more information or to make other arrangements.

Harvest Festival – Meeting Next Sunday
We’re planning a big community fall festival for Saturday, November 11. It will be a great time of fun and fellowship with an outreach emphasis. Mark your calendar now so you can help and join in the fun. This will be a bridge event to our community – giving neighbors a chance to get to know us as well as have a lot of fun. The festival will be from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. We’ll have games, food, and prizes.

We’re having a planning meeting next Sunday, October 15 from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. Your input and ideas are desired, plus we need every member of River Springs to help in some way. Contact Gloria Shull,
jaredhannahmom@aol.comor 749-3374 for questions or suggestions.

Children’s Choir
Hey Kids – do you like to sing? We have started a choir group for grades 1-5 and would like to invite you to join us. We like to do lots of different songs, some with movement and some with sign language. We meet on Wednesday nights at 6:45 – at the beginning of Kid’s Night – for about 45 minutes. Then we continue with the drama skits, worship and play on Wednesday Night Kids’ Night. So come join the fun with us at Kids’ Nights on Wednesday. Janet Altman, Children’s Choir Director, can be contacted at
janetaltman@scbaptist.org

G.O. Outreach is Under Way!

We have enough participants for two excellent teams. The G team serves on the first Sunday evening (7:00 p.m) of each month and the O team serves on the third Sunday evening of each month. Do you have a neighbor or family member or friend that does not know Christ? Make sure you are praying for them. Then send us contact information and your thoughts on how and when they should be contacted. Contact Laura Fox for more information and to share the name/address of the person you are praying will accept Christ.

River Springs Youth Invite You to Help
On October 14, we will help the people of the Midlands at the Harvest Hope Food Bank Volunteer Day. We’ll meet at the church at 8:30AM that Saturday morning and will be at the food bank from 9AM to 1PM. During the volunteer day, they will give us a tour of the facility and acquaint us with the work of Harvest Hope and the needs of the people in our area. After we finish at Harvest Hope, we’ll go get some lunch together (probably Sonic – so bring some money for fast food) and hang out a little while. We should be back at the church around 3 PM. Let Pastor Kelley Marsh know,
kelleymarsh@wildblue.netif you plan to go.

Disaster Relief Rebuild Trip?
We’ve been so blessed so far this year, but there is still much need on the Gulf coast from last year’s storms. RSC Disaster Relief Director Avery Fox would like for anyone who is interested in going on a mid November or early December rebuild trip to Mississippi to let him know.  For more information, contact Avery Fox.

Help Our New Church, Lakepoint
Lakepoint Church in Lexington has Movies in The Park at Virginia Hylton Park in Lexington. The one they had on September 29 drew over 700 people! River Springs Church is signed up to help them with the October one on Friday, October 27. They’re going to have a Trick or Treat Trail that opens at 6:00 p.m. and then the movie, The Incredibles, starts at 7:15. We need at least 15 volunteers from River Springs to help with the Trick or Treat Trail. We just stay at a position on the trail and hand out candy as the kids in non-scary costumes come around. It’s lots of fun. Some volunteers, especially if you take your children with you, may want to stay for the movie, which is free. To help with the Trick or Treat Trail we should be at the park by 5:15. We’ll meet at River Springs and leave by 4:45 to carpool and caravan to the park in heavy Lexington traffic. (The volunteers that ride with Pastor Tim will meet at RSC at 4:30 and leave by 4:45, and after the Trick or Treat trail is over at 7, will grab some fast food on the way to the Chapin-Swansea football game at Swansea. Pastor Tim will make sure those who ride with him get home after the game.) Youth that want to go and help should sign up at church with Pastor Kelley or at kelleymarsh@wildblue.net Others who want to go and help should sign up with Pastor Tim at jaredhannahpop@aol.com

This Is Our God
Every Sunday we try to worship God. We sing about His holiness, His glory, His righteousness, His power, and the ways that He has shown His love to us in creating us, guiding us, being with us and saving us. But do we really understand the truths that we sing? God is big. He’s indescribable, unchangeable, undeniable, inexhaustible, unimaginable, and immeasurable. Yet He has chosen to reveal Himself to us so that we can know Him and love Him. For six Sundays, starting Oct. 8, we’re focusing on the attributes of the character of God. It’s about God and not about us; but having a greater understanding of who He is will really improve our worship of Him and that will help every aspect of our lives. Come for fellowship at 10 and worship at 10:30 a.m. each Sunday.

Nametag
Do you know everybody at church? Let’s help each other learn names and make things easier for newcomers. Stop by the table in the lobby each time you come to church and make a nametag (first name is enough) for you and your family members.

Ushers and Greeters
Greeters and Ushers, please join us at 10am to pray and welcome folks to church each Sunday.
Scrap-Booking Workshop October 27 Two women from the Ashford neighborhood are hosting this event for their customers, our congregation and the public.
