Happy Birthday River
Springs Church
We were officially
constituted as an autonomous church on April 27, 2003. In our first five years
God has done some amazing things in and through River Springs
Church. So let’s
celebrate! The month of April is a
special commemoration of what God has done and what we see Him doing. We’ll start the month long party with the
cookout and bonfire on April 2. The Kids Klub Lock-In and the big Yard Sale and
the Couples Conference will add to the fun and enrich our fellowship. Each Sunday we’ll enjoy stirring worship and hear
a message of encouragement and challenge from men who have been a huge help to
River Springs:
·
April 6 – Pastor
Jimmy Parris
·
April 13 – Dino
Senesi, Director of the Church Multiplication Group, a constant friend and
encourager of RSC.
·
April 20 –
Lonnie Shull, former pastor of First Baptist Church West Columbia, the church
that helped RSC get started. He is Pastor Tim’s father. Lonnie and Hazel Shull have
continued to support and help River Springs in many ways.
·
April 27 –
Pastor Tim Shull will bring a message celebrating where we’ve been and charting
the course for where we’re headed.
On April 27, we’ll have a
big birthday cake and church-wide dinner right after the worship. Let’s party!
Cookout and Bonfire – this
Wednesday, April 2, 6:30 p.m.
We’re having a bonfire and
cookout fellowship this Wednesday night at 6:30 at the church. We’ll eat
grilled hotdogs and chips. We’ll roast marshmallows and make smores! Everybody
is invited! There will be no life.groups or childcare or Kids Klub this
Wednesday. (These resume on April 9). No program or agenda…just relaxed outdoor
fun and fellowship. Bring your lawn chairs!
Kids Klub Lock In – April 11
All kids in 1st
grade through 5th grade are invited to the Lock In at the church on
Friday, April 11. Drop off is at 7:00 p.m. and pick up the next morning will be
9:00 a.m. Bring $5 for pizza and a favorite snack to share. Wear your PJ’s and
tennis shoes and be ready for a night of food and fun! Don’t forget your flashlight, pillow and
sleeping bag. Contact Jenny Henke, jennyhenke@sc.rr.com
for more info.
Indoor-Outdoor Community Wide Yard
Sale – April 19
Rent a space at the RSC yard
sale on Saturday, April 19, 6:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Each renter will stock and man
their table, do their own selling, and take home their proceeds, rain or
shine. Do some spring cleaning and find
some things that you can sell. Dave Ramsey says, “Sell so much stuff that the
kids will think that they are next!”
Outside spaces rent for $25
each. Spaces inside the building rent for $35 or $50 depending on the size and
location. Inside spaces not only have the certainty of being good no matter the
weather, they can also be set up on Friday. Each rental includes one 8 ft.
table and additional tables can be ordered. At the end of the yard sale, a truck
from His House will be on hand for
any stuff you’d rather donate to charity than take back home.
River Springs Church earns money through the rental of spaces. Our
proceeds this year will go to help pay for children and youth summer camps. In
addition, our Disaster Relief team will be selling hotdog plates for our Disaster
Relief unit. And our Children’s Ministry
will sell coffee and doughnuts for the children’s ministry. Our youth will be
on hand to help people carry their purchases to their cars.
We need RSC members to help
us set up and clean up. And, if you’re not renting a space and selling stuff,
you can be on hand to help during the event. Contact John Peachey at 518-5615
or 796-6256 or carolinapeach@att.net to rent a space and to sign up to help.

H.A.Y.
Has the
warmer weather inspired you to do Spring cleaning and yard work? Do you
have odd jobs and projects that you are itching to get done? Got a
"honey-do" list as long as your arm? “HAY!” Help is on
the way! H.A.Y. Days are
here again! That’s right, Hire A Youth. This is our
Youth fundraiser to help our students raise money towards going to Summer
Camp.
Between April 5th and June 14th,
we invite you to “buy in” on the fun, adventure, and blessing of our Student
Life Camp experience. By purchasing $10 shares for work performed by our
students, you are buying into a share of the camp experience and helping
provide the means for our students to go to Student Life Camp. Yard work,
house cleaning, laundry, washing cars, gutters, windows, baby sitting, pool
cleaning, whatever…we will match up your odd jobs with available teenagers, who
will bring a load of energy and enthusiasm to meet your need. You decide
how many shares a job is worth. You can then share in the blessing of how
God will work in their lives at camp.
Please make checks out to the church with the
students’ names in the note section and turn them in to Kelley or Jenn Marsh,
or Eddie or Heather Crosby. Thanks!

Sunday Mornings at River Springs
Church
Youth Bible Study meets at
9:15. Coffee Fellowship at 10:00. Prayer Gathering at 10:10. Preschool Check-in
at 10:15. Worship begins at 10:25 sharp with Puppets. RSC members
are encouraged to be on time and in the worship room when worship begins. It’s
the most important thing you’ll do all week.
·
During the
worship service, our Preschool Ministry
provides a warm, caring atmosphere with excellent teachers for children birth
through kindergarten. Parents should check in their preschoolers and babies before the 10:25 worship starts.
·
We have a Children’s Worship time for children in
1st through 5th grades. School aged children are invited
to come to worship with their parents and then, after the puppets and a song,
the children will go to Kids’ Klub.
It’s a great time of fun learning about the Bible.
·
We make cassette
tapes of the message that are available shortly after the worship concludes. Tapes and CD’s of previous messages are
also available. On the table now are sermons from the Famous Last Words and 3:16
The Numbers of Hope series. Messages
can also be heard and/or downloaded at www.riversprings.org
·
Free Gift:
First time attenders of worship at RSC are encouraged to fill out their
connection card and, instead of putting it in the offering basket, to bring it
to the information table in the lobby where we have a nice gift waiting for
them. Members should encourage newcomers to stop by the information table to
receive their gift.
Wednesday Nights at RSC
·
We believe that
life is best lived in an environment of meaningful, authentic friendships where
every person can know and be known. RSC
life.groups meet in homes around our area to study the Bible and connect
with each other. Relationships form and ministries to each other flow
naturally. Encouraging times of prayer
and study are experienced every time. To
join a life.group contact Jimmy Parris at jimmy.parris@gmail.com
·
While parents
attend a life.group meeting nearby, children (babies through 5th grade)
are cared for at the church from 6:45 to 8:30 p.m. Babies and preschoolers enjoy a time of structured play, songs and
games. First through Fifth graders
enjoy a recreation infused session of Kids’ Klub. Parents should drop off kids
at 6:45 and make it to life.groups on time at 7:00 p.m.
