WOMEN AT THE WELL WORKSHOPS

Why is it called “Women at the Well?”

We all have baggage... the junk in our lives that clouds our ability to be the Godly women we really want to be. We try and try like crazy to be the perfect daughter, wife, mother, sister, and child of God, but just like the Samaritan woman who met Jesus at a well in Samaria, we are all women with pasts. Bumps, bruises, joys and victories in our lives make us who we are. The good things that we do for our families, and even those things we don’t want anyone to know about, things we have chosen to forget, Jesus knows them all! In fact, He knows everything about us...and He loves us anyway!

In John 4, Jesus spoke to the woman at the well, asking her to give Him a drink. For a Jew to speak to a Samaritan woman during that time was scandalous! Even His disciples questioned Him. It took a little while for the Samaritan woman to begin to recognize Jesus as the Messiah, but when she did she wanted to shout it from the rooftops! “Then the woman left her water jar, went into town, and told the men, ‘Come, see a man who told me everything I ever did! Could this be the Messiah?’” (John 4:28-29) The people believed the woman and went to Jesus, and they believed as well!

Even broken people, with broken pasts and shattered presents can be used by the God who calls them to lead others to Him. That is what we want to do with the Women at the Well Ministry. We want to help each other through the good times and the bad ones. Whether we are single moms, married with kids, retired widows, or a single woman trying to make it on your own, we all have busy lives. We each have stories to share, sorrows and joys that shape our lives and distract us from Christ. We need to lean on Jesus to love and support one another. Dear sister, we hope that you join us in this important ministry and come drink from the well of Living Water that only Jesus can provide!
